Born in the Brazilian town of Erechim, Alessandra Ambrosio developed an interest in modelling at a young age, enrolling for modelling classes when she was 12 years old. She broke into the international scene in the late ‘90s, after being selected as one of the finalists of the 1996 edition of the Elite Model Look competition. Soon, she was booked for the Millennium Guess Campaign, and has since appeared on more than 70 magazine covers, including Vogue Spain, Brazil, Germany and Mexico.
In 2000, Ambrosio made her debut on the Victoria's Secret runway and became an Angel four years later. She is one of the longest-serving Angels, together with Adriana Lima. “When I first did my show in 2000, I remember that all the outfits were very, very small,” she told Vogue. “There were barely any wings, compared to what you see now.” In 2005, in one of her most famous VS appearances, she wore lingerie made of candy.
In 2003, Ambrosio was featured in the Pirelli Calendar and over the years has appeared in a number of TV shows and films, including Casino Royale, Entourage, New Girl and How I Met Your Mother. She has been engaged to businessman Jamie Mazur since 2008, when she gave birth to their first daughter, Anja. The same year, the model made headlines by returning to the VS catwalk only three months after giving birth. Their second child, Noah, was born in 2012, when Ambrosio was chosen to wear the Floral Fantasy bra, created by Long Island's London Jewelers.

Ambrosio loves sports, including swimming and volleyball, and practices Pilates, barre and yoga. She maintains a balanced diet throughout the year, but can't resist eating cupcakes with her two children, and the occasional glass of red wine at dinner.
