Alabama Athletics to Celebrate 'Bama Salute' Military Appreciation Week

Upcoming events planned on-campus to honor and celebrate veterans and service members

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In recognition of Veterans Day 2023, Alabama Athletics has partnered with the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs to plan several military-themed activations at The University of Alabama in honor of the men and women who have served our country:

Friday, Nov. 10

  • 5:45 a.m. – ROTC Veterans Day 5K, Free admission
  • 6 p.m. – Bama Salute Game: Volleyball vs. Arkansas – Foster Auditorium, Buy Tickets
    •  Arrive early for the national anthem with color guard, presented by the UA Air Force ROTC
  •  7 p.m. – Bama Salute Game: Men's Basketball vs. Indiana State – Coleman Coliseum, Buy Tickets
    • Arrive early for the national anthem with oversized, on-court American Flag display, presented by the UA Army ROTC
    • Alabama Athletics will unveil a POW/MIA chair in Coleman Coliseum in honor of our men and women in uniform who have not yet returned home

Saturday, Nov. 11

  • 10 a.m. – Tuscaloosa Veterans Day Event at Memorial Park

Thursday, Nov. 16

  • 7 p.m. – Bama Salute Game: Women's Basketball vs. USF – Coleman Coliseum, Buy Tickets
    • Free admission for all active duty and veterans who show a valid military ID at the ticket office located at the north main entrance of Coleman Coliseum as well as ticket discounts for family/guests of service members
    • Coleman Coliseum-themed commemorative 'Bama Salute' challenge coin giveaway
    • Arrive early for the national anthem with oversized, on-court American Flag display, presented by the UA Army ROTC
    • UA ROTC will compete in an on-court basketball scrimmage at halftime

Saturday, Nov. 18

  • 11 a.m. – Bama Salute Game: Football vs. Chattanooga – Bryant-Denny Stadium
    • Buy Tickets
    • All current and former members of the military are encouraged to visit VetTix to claim their tickets
    • The Million Dollar Band will perform special military salutes to our military throughout the game
    • All active duty and veterans in attendance will also be recognized
    • Flag Recipient, Master Sergeant Annie Jackson from the US Army will be recognized on-field pregame

  • Support thousands of service members and veterans with official apparel from Operation Hat Trick. Operation Hat Trick branded merchandise generates awareness and support for recovery of wounded service members and veterans. A portion of each sale helps to fill critical gaps in care.
